Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is illegal. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that features numerous luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
